Engine house 10 is one of Franklinton's longest and most historical buildings. With its connection to the community, symbol of power, large footprint, and central location, it became a perfect fit for my adaptive reuse program.
Franklinton's community lies severely below the Franklin county average in several categories. The one chosen to focus on is household percentage. 62.5% of homes in this community are single mother, most of them are also incredibly under the poverty line.
With these goals in mind, my adaptive reuse program is a vocational school targeted for single mothers teaching them personal care trades focusing on hairdresser and nail technician.
